Gender Equality and Gender-Based Violence Response

Supporting Survivors to Heal, Rebuild, and Thrive

Gender-based violence disproportionately affects refugee and newcomer women and LGBTQI+ individuals. HRI’s SafeHaven Program provides trauma-informed, survivor-centered support to help survivors heal, rebuild their lives, and regain independence.

SafeHaven offers;

  • Counseling referrals
  • Safety planning
  • Housing support
  • Legal referrals
  • Employment readiness training, and
  • Financial literacy education.

We also facilitate survivor support circles where participants can share experiences, build community, and foster resilience in a safe and supportive environment.

Engaging men and boys as allies in promoting gender equality and preventing violence

In addition, SafeHaven engages men and boys as allies in promoting gender equality and preventing violence by challenging harmful gender norms and promoting healthy relationships.

Our goal is to empower survivors with the resources, support, and confidence needed to rebuild their lives with dignity and safety.

If you are a survivor or need support, you are not alone.
