The 2nd Global Conference on Sexual Health, Reproductive Rights, and Gender Equity in Humanitarian Crises

Theme: “Empowering Voices, Ensuring Rights: Advancing Sexual Health and Gender Equity in Crisis Settings”

Submission Deadline: March 31st, 2025

Hope for Refugees International invites submissions for abstracts to be presented at the 2nd Global Conference on Sexual Health, Reproductive Rights, and Gender Equity in Humanitarian Crises, taking place from May 9th to May 10th, 2025, in Toronto, Canada. This conference aims to address the challenges faced by refugees and displaced populations, particularly women, girls, LGBTQ+ individuals, and young people at large in accessing essential sexual and reproductive health and Rights (SRHR) services, and information and achieving gender equity.

Abstract Track Themes

  • Track 1. Innovative Strategies in Delivering SRH Services: Share insights into groundbreaking innovations, approaches, and best practices in providing SRHR services and information for women, children, and young people in humanitarian contexts.
  • Track 2. Policymaking for SRHR and Gender Equity: Explore approaches focusing on actionable policy recommendations to improve SRHR services and information and promote gender equity in crisis response.
  • Track 3. Empowering Local Communities: Showcase case studies and initiatives empowering communities to actively promote SRHR and gender rights in their specific contexts.
  • Track 4. Building Strategic Partnerships and Funding: Discuss initiatives and collaborations among governments, humanitarian organizations, private sector entities, and donors to enhance funding and support for SRHR and gender equity in humanitarian settings.
  • Track 5. Inclusive Dialogue and Learning: Create a safe space for refugees, humanitarian workers, social workers, and affected communities to share experiences, challenges, and successes, promoting mutual learning and empathy.

Abstract Structure and Submission Guidelines

Abstract submissions should follow a structured format to ensure clarity, coherence, and relevance to the conference’s overall goal, objectives, and abstract track themes. 

Please include the following sections in your abstract.
  1. Abstract Track Thematic Area: Clearly indicate the abstract track thematic area your submission aligns with (e.g., Track 1. Innovative Strategies, Track 2. Policymaking, Track 3. Empowering Communities, Track 4. Building Partnerships, Track 5. Inclusive Dialogue).
  2. Title: Provide a concise and informative title that reflects the main focus of your abstract.
  3. Introduction: Briefly introduce the context and background of your research, project, or initiative. Clearly state the objectives or purpose of your work.
  4. Methods (if applicable): Outline the methods or approaches used in your study, project, or initiative.
  5. Results (if applicable): Present key findings, outcomes, or results of your work. Highlight any innovative strategies, best practices, or successful initiatives.
  6. Discussion: Analyze the significance of your findings in relation to the conference themes. Discuss the implications of your work for sexual health, reproductive rights, and gender equity in humanitarian crises.
  7. Conclusion: Summarize the main points and contributions of your work. Clearly state the implications for policy, practice, or future research.
  8. Additional Information: Include any relevant details about the target population, geographical scope, or specific challenges addressed.

  • Ensure that your abstract is clear, concise, and within the 500-word limit.
  • Clearly indicate the abstract track thematic area your abstract aligns with (e.g., Track 1. Innovative Strategies, Track 2. Policymaking, Track 3. Empowering Communities, Track 4. Building Partnerships, Track 5. Inclusive Dialogue).
